The St. Joseph Legacy Society

Honoring Our Past. Securing Our Future.

In 1900, the Sisters of St. Joseph answered a call to serve the children of Brunswick, planting the seed that would grow into St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. Their faith, sacrifice, and vision built something that has endured for well over a century.

The St. Joseph Legacy Society was created to honor that spirit. Named for the Sisters of St. Joseph whose devotion gave our school its start, this society welcomes alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who choose to include SFXCS in their estate or long-term financial plans. A planned gift is one of the most meaningful ways to say thank you for the education, faith formation, and community that shaped your family, while ensuring the same gift is there for generations of Crusaders still to come.

Join the St. Joseph Legacy Society!

Have you already included SFXCS in your plans, or are you considering it?
We would be honored to thank you personally and welcome you into the St. Joseph Legacy Society.

Leave a legacy of faith. Extend the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph for future students.
Make a bigger impact than you might think possible. Many planned gifts cost you nothing during your lifetime.

Enjoy potential tax and income benefits. Certain gifts can reduce estate taxes or provide income for you or your loved ones.

Be recognized during your lifetime. Members of the St. Joseph Legacy Society are honored as part of the SFXCS family. (You may also choose to remain anonymous.)

There are many ways to become a member of the St. Joseph Legacy Society. We encourage you to talk with your financial advisor or attorney to determine which option is right for you.

1.       Bequest in Your Will or Trust: The simplest way to leave a legacy. A gift of cash, a percentage of your estate, or specific property can be designated to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School through your will or living trust.

2.       Beneficiary Designations: Name SFXCS as a full, partial, or contingent beneficiary of a retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b)), life insurance policy, or donor-advised fund. This is often as simple as updating a form with your plan administrator, no attorney required.

3.       Charitable Gift Annuity: Make a gift and receive fixed payments for life in return. This option supports SFXCS while providing you or a loved one with dependable income.

4.       Gifts of Retirement Assets: Retirement accounts can be among the most heavily taxed assets in an estate. Naming SFXCS as a beneficiary can be a tax-wise way to give.

5.       Gifts of Appreciated Stock or Real Estate: Donate long-term appreciated securities or property and potentially avoid capital gains tax while receiving a charitable deduction.

6.       Life Insurance: Name SFXCS as a beneficiary or owner of a life insurance policy, an option that allows you to make a significant gift for a relatively modest cost.

Sample Bequest Language:
“I / We the undersigned, give (%, $, or the residual) of my / our state to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Savannah. For the benefit of St Francis Xavier School. If the school were to cease, then the funds could be used by the Diocese to promote Catholic Education.”

Membership in the St. Joseph Legacy Society is open to anyone who has included St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in their estate plans through any of the gift types above, regardless of amount. There is no minimum gift required to join, only the intention to leave a legacy.

Members are invited to an annual appreciation event and will be listed in the school's annual report, unless you prefer to remain anonymous.
